Introduction to Assignment #1

For the past 5 years, I’ve learned 3D animation using a software called Blender, and I learned to use this software almost entirely through YouTube tutorials. Learning this program is a big learning curve as it’s been used in movie productions in the past. Knowing this and only being around 13 at the time, I would search for videos whenever I wanted to learn a specific skill like modelling, lighting, animation, or rendering in Blender. You would think that this would not be a great plan since this is a very complex program, yet here I am with intermediate experience by only watching YouTube videos. Realizing this made me question how power YouTube really is as an educational tool.This inquiry assignment will focus on whether YouTube can work as a legitimate form of education. Going into this, I hypothesize that YouTube can be a proper learning platform but with major limitations. I will analyze different aspects of YouTube and use my experience as an example throughout this assignment.
